UT1 is the no-bones zone, not UT2. I've had a fair number of UT2 bones levels in my game, so have no fear about not getting access to the stuff again!

Oh yes, by the time you want perma invisibility, you should have bought all you will need from the library and shop in Attnam.

You buy things from the library?

*is a filthy exploiter of the vandalism glitch there*

Yeah, most likely.

Is it any more sensible than a kamikaze dwarf of Silva?

Warheck: Good show, man. The idea of a grenade/poison/acid-chucker is a frightening thought, but well within the spirit of the game, as is the chucker of axes and daggers. In fact a dagger-thrower would be good to have; I don't usually use my run button a whole lot outside of maybe trying to train on the world map (when I do get around to playing anyway).

Bones are the result of a previous game. They come with everything that was on the level right before you died; this means all monsters (including the one that killed you, which might mean you wind up seriously boned), all loot (including the loot you had been carrying when you died), and all terrain is the same.

Limbs can be replaced by: healing fluid, troll blood, Seges, New Attnam priest (who charges gold for that). Also several other gods if you don't care that the limb they give you is not an authentic human limb. This list not guaranteed to be exhaustive, only fairly close. Note - if you lose a limb without something like a mine, beartrap, or rabid hedgehog providing a good reason for it you likely have leprosy and so does your arm; if you become leprosy-free and then get your arm reattached at the NA priest's house you will get leprosy again - instead, refuse leprosy treatment, have your arm reattached and then get cured of leprosy. The surgeon general has noted that limb loss is a leading indicator and cause of early death, don't make it a habit!

I once got killed by a ruby golem on the enner level. It's my highest scoring game.

You might want to have at least one around for certain edge circumstances (Izzy's winning game was saved from starvation by two amulets of lifesaving, for example) but yeah, for general combat purposes an amulet of ESP is far handier to wear.

That might be the vi-keys (hykulnjb, from left to down-left in a clockwise fashion), which should let you play just fine.

There is no way to activate the ring. In fact, you can't really activate any of the rings; either they're "on" as long as you're wearing them or their effect goes off at random. If you want something that can polymorph you at will what you want is a wand of polymorph (be advised that this is IMO a total waste of a poly wand given that you can use it on altars and up to 25 items, which can net you extra scrolls, bananas, food, equipment, wands, etc.)

You really just need to man up and try training your dude's stats rather than hoping to rely on polymorph boosts (in fact, even if you're going to rely on polymorph boosts you'll have to train Int at least because you can't manage to voluntarily change into the tougher monsters without more than the base). At the very least train your Int so that you can manage the more valuable artificial limbs. Polymorphing to bigger monsters fails hard as a strategy because a) your stats are factored into how tough the enemies are every time you enter a new dungeon level, so if you waltz into UT3 as a bear you have a fair chance of being absolutely slaughtered by mysterious explosions/a bear clone/etc. as a result of an Ischaldirh overdose; b) the only source of polymorph on demand is the wand, and that's not a common item, making it difficult to depend on as a survival tactic; c) in between times when you have that source available to you, or between times when the ring of polymorph actually goes off, thanks to you saving the tough fights for polymorph your character is going to be weaksauce and will then get his ass handed to him in the event you get jumped before you can (somehow) get that wand of polymorph recharged or before the polymorph ring saves your ass.
