Lanterns actually make for pretty ok shields due to their roundness value, but basically any actual weapon or shield would be a better idea. There's not much reason to use a lantern because it'll level your Misc. weapon skill, which won't be handy further into the game.
How the lantern manages to illuminate your surroundings while it's in your "backpack" is its own problem. I guess you could just interpret it as having it strapped to your belt or something.
I like the sound of this!
I've had a particular kind of dungeon in mind, but at the same time it'd require more items/monsters.
Nothing I can't do with editing the script files but that's not helping development.
Also sounds like a good time to write up a dungeon.dat tutorial.
No no, making new sprites with banding would be easy. What I meant is I'm pretty sure you can't modify the existing sprites only when the item is made of malachite so that you get the neat bands, so that existing items get malachite bands when SoCM'd to malachite.
Well you might be able to do it by having separate sprites for malachite versions of things and having code for changing sprites to the banded sprite but that is a lot of work for one material.
I'd like to see Malachite as a golem/stone material. As a stone material, there would be little need to worry about balance issues since they're not used for weapons/armor. As for being used for golems, well there's things like diamond and octiron golems wandering around that hit a LOT harder than a soft copper ore would.
We do have copper though as a more practical material, even though it's pretty bad.
If possible I'd like to get malachite's neat band pattern to show up in-game but I don't think that's possible for golems and items. Probably could make unique walls but the idea of malachite WALLS seems a bit silly.
I noticed the github issue when it set my phone off earlier today.
Just came here to post it, but it seems you beat me to the punch.
I would say that wizard mode is the cause, because in this most recent incident I was using it to spawn the stone armor I was testing, and it crashed when I tried loading the old character who was doing the testing.
I've added a stone helmet to go with the stone armor, with fresh sprites. Still haven't changed the equipped armor sprite.
Make sure you click that "view full size" button because the auto-scaling has blurred the image real bad.
No, this popped up while I was testing my stone armors.
I had a character named Havel and when I tried to start a new game as "Havel" it ate my core. This does sound like an issue unique to me, sadly.
