"It is dangerous to go ice fishing in the summer" springs to mind.

On topic: I think i've had this happen once, with a shield or scroll or something.

Have you forgotten our good friend, the bear trap?
Meteoric steel traps and upwards will make short work of an uncovered limb. Just be sure to have a method of teleportation handy incase the wrong limb gets stuck and you can't escape. Being beheaded by a bear trap isn't pretty either.

Good job Al!

And Erno: 1, I don't get your first question. 2, I never name any 2 characters the same, which would be why I only ever get the "You smell the stench of death" message.

Or smithed/tailored if it's within their range of expertise (e.g. no rare materials like crystal). If you get given a food limb however, get it off ASAP. Food can't heal, only rot.

And if you have the pleasure of chancing upon a scroll of change material, and use it on your limbs, opt for strong but flexible materials such as ommel hair and phoenix feather to get both good Astr/Lstr and DEX/AGI.

Title = Subject

So, how do you? Tactics, favoured weapons, gods, etc.
I thought maybe if we shared our strategies, everyone can help point out weaknesses and ways to improve.

I'll start with how I play:
When I first start off, I scour all of UT1 and 2 equipping the first weapon I see (provided it isn't a war hammer, quarterstaff or anything -enchanted) along with the first armor I come across. I try to use 2 weapons at a time if possible. I like to try to align myself with Loraticus and love chain-mail.

----
Sorry for double post, but i'm posting from a PSP which has a limited memory for text.

Anyway, as I progress and get to attnam, I sell anything unimportant and purchase some form of fire resistance if I don't already have some. I then spend the rest of my gold (if any) at the library, prioritising on harden scrolls, then enchant scrolls. I also keep with me a healthy supply of cans I fill with healing fluids, and a small chest for wands, scrolls and anything shiny (dang magpies). It's gung ho from there.

I always hate it when I run into a bones file where the previous character was killed by a named creature. Having Rondal wandering about UT2 has brought about the end of several characters...

Also, a tip for you, fine sir. Whenever you enter a new level and you recieve the message "You smell the stench of death" it means there is a bones file on the level.

I personally have never had my groin severed in IVAN.
For instance, whilst testing my atomic bomb in AtomicIVAN, I stepped on it and all my limbs were severed, and my head, but my torso and groin stayed firmly together - although dead.

I have a little list:
Rolling Boulder traps
Travellers on the world map, traders, food caravans etc.
More cities, and some form of transport between them
Some logical way of killing the enner beast (e.g. Long ranged weaponry)
Dwarves with rifles
A way of combining materials and making weapons out of them

EDIT: Oops, misread the question. Here's another list:
*I want to have a REAL conversation with people
*I want to be able to combine materials into new ones and use them to make weapons (SMITHING!)
*I want to be able to see more cities and travel by some other means than just by foot

Maybe they're dead. Ever think of that?

The banana should only be zapped when dealing with Jenny, if you find it that early
