I am on UT 4 and wearing a ring of infravision. I am getting attacked by an invisible monster but cant figure out what it is. the ring should show me invisible monsters correct? I dont think its the special golem, I shouldnt be bad enough for it to spawn yet.

That golem is a guaranteed spawn on UT4. Doesn't matter how strong you are, otherwise there'd be nothing to stop players from just looting the place of rocks.

I am talking about the named golem, and I have never seen that it is guaranteed to spawn on ut4.

Infravision shows you warm-blooded creatures, so if it's invisible and cold-blooded or has no blood then you still wouldn't see it. I believe the invisible stalker is such a creature so that is another possibility.

I know which golem you are talking about, and it is. As Cap said, it is not warm-blooded, and it's not intelligent, so you cannot see it through any normal means.

Actually, there is no guaranteed spawn on UT4. Having said that, UT4 has a higher spawn rate than anywhere else, so if you're strong enough, it could very well have spawned there.

Odd. I swear it has been down there every time I visited, but I usually don't bother. It's a little hard to tell when it's undetectable anyway.

I dont think its the golem. I don't think I am strong enough for it to spawn. Its moot for now though - i am polyd into a spider from drinking from a fountain. I got poly-itis and was excited because i had a ring of poly control. But then i checked my inventory and i don't have a ring of poly control.

Invisible stalkers have body made of magical air, so yes, most likely they can only be detected with ESP.

I bet it was an invisible stalker then. I've definitely seen the spider silk golem in gloomy caves.

I SWEAR there was some kind of pre-defined script somewhere that made our invisible golem friend appear in UT4.
Maybe it was in a specific variant, or a line somewhere in the source code?
EDIT: On closer inspection it might have something to do with the fact that UT4 has a base difficulty of 100. For comparison, Oree's Lair has a base difficulty of 90.
In addition it has a difficultyDelta of 0, meaning that UT4's difficulty is
always 100. Or, it should. I can't find where either of those entries are referenced elsewhere in the source.
