Put all of your tips in this thread for obtaining the High Priest ending. I'll edit this post as we go to include everything we post.

My IVAN playing days have basically come to a close now that I've finally beaten it completely, so I thought I would share my knowledge. I'll start off with what I consider to be the most important tips.

-You will absolutely NEED a source of invisibility, preferably a ring. You can get by without it until after Elpuri when you start encountering droves of veteran kamikazes. They will utterly destroy you if you don't have invisibility.

- You will also absolutely need two cloaks: one fire resistance and one electricity resistance, both enchanted to at least +7. The fire one should be on at all times before Elpuri, while switching to the electricity one when needed (battlemages, hattifatteners, etc). After Elpuri you'll want the electricity one on at all times, with possibly a ring of electricity resistance on as well. If you don't, your shit will get wrecked within seconds.

- Don't use armor of great health. The enemies it will spawn against you will far outweigh the health bonus it provides.

- Never, EVER try to fight Shererax. The gear she has isn't worth the beheading you will most likely receive.

- MOST IMPORTANT TIP: always, always, ALWAYS have a wand of teleportation on you. Not in a chest in your inventory, on you. If something doesn't go your way and you're in the red you can easily escape. Plus if you get hit by a giant explosion or something the wand will break and send you to safety (assuming you have telecontrol, which you should).

- Best weapons: this is debatable, but no matter what you use you should be dual wielding. Shields aren't worth it. I highly suggest one of your weapons be Vermis, because the telecontrol, teleportitis, and random teleporting of enemies is invaluable and frees up ring slots...plus it's ridiculously strong. For the other weapon either use another Vermis if you play defensively or an extremely enchanted angel hair whip of thievery if you want to be offensive oriented. It delimbs with basically every hit, no matter what you're fighting. Hell, it took off one of Petrus' arms in one swipe. (keep in mind the 2nd weapon is basically your preference. If you like Turox, use it. Hell, use an enchanted dagger if you want. Just make sure you're using one Vermis)

Cloaks & Invisibility are two rules I always live by

Weapons - I'm not a big fan of Vermis. I'd rather kill things, when you fight more powerful enemies it gets annoying when it keeps teleporting them away.

Every single game I've beaten has been with Mjolak. Unfortunately since it's heavy you can only wield one (unless you have artificial limbs). Right now I'm trying an artificial limb game with an enchanted spear + Saal thul

With a nice cloak you can survive them. I wouldnt waste a ring slot for invis, I prefer polycontrol & electricity. You really meet a lot of polying bitches after Elpuri.

Yep, I agree. A good plate mail protects well :>

Personally I think that the biggest problem with Sherry is her speed, so I suggest zaping a wand of tele or poly at her and proceed to the exit

The last thing that stopped me from getting to Oree and killing her was some mage that polymophed me. Rings of polycontrol are hard to get, so I would wish for one after getting some decent eq.

The same with belt of levitation, it helps avoiding traps and mines.

Perception is a great thing to get, it helps a lot. When you have everything overenhanted and SoCM'ed mirroring carrots isnt a really bad idea. I dont know if you can SoCM a chest to carrot flesh.

Also, if you dont like to scitalk a lot, SoCMing things into ommel tooth is the way to go, imo. I do it before i enter the Enner beast level and it did never rot away when I played.

More tips
Belt of Levitation - a MUST. Of course, helps you avoid mines and traps, but also slime and dark frog blood which will destroy your boots. It also lets you set traps without worrying about getting caught in them yourself. Speaking of which ...

For fighting Sherry and others:
Carry around a couple of mithril or adamant bear traps, and set them in a line. Wait around the corner, let her get stuck in each one, and after she's gone through, teleport her away. (Wait around the corner or else you'll teleport your traps away too). Then repeat this... it will at least hurt her, possibly destroy some of her equipment, and maybe even cut off one of her limbs. Big mines are also really good for hurting them

Another funny thing to do is force them to walk over a path of crappy equipment. Sometimes, inexplicably they drop their own superior equipment and put on something much worse. I've seen Petrus drop his sapphire plate mail for leather armor

For named baddies .. a good way to tell if you're ready to fight them is, whether or not you've encountered the next more powerful one. So for example, if you see Rondol, then run away. But if you see Guugzamesh, that means you can go back and beat Rondol. If you see Xinroch, run, but if you see Ur Khan, you can probably take out Xinroch. Unfortunately this doesn't help much with Ur Khan, Golgor Dhan, or Sherarax since they usually appear at around the same time in my experience.
