We really need to find out how to do something about this. Why the hell are Spam Bots even bothering, let alone this?

I have a solution.

I believe there is a way to switch the verification for users of the website to Admin Only, meaning that Spam Bots would need to be verified by the Administrator.

Its easy to tell if its a spam bot, just look in their profile.

EVERY spambot there is has MP3 or something like that listed. LisaTheGirl is an example-

Mp3, Erotic.

Why are they even bothering? To ruin the fourms?

I agree with Zayre's suggestion. I think we should make the accounts to where they have to be approved by the admin. That'll stop all the spambots in their tracks. Sure, they'll still flood the members page, but they won't be able to post their stupid links.

Sorry guys. I will not be here often in the next month or so. chaostrom and Somagu are doing well cleaning up any spam posts and whenever I get a chance I will delete the bots. When I have time I will install a better captcha, the one I use on my other website which has not had a spam bot for months. But I won't have time to do that until around the beginning of Feb. I don't to make it admin-approved since I don't know when's the next time I'll be on here but I made it so you have to confirm the registration in an email.. hopefully that'll cut it down just a little bit.

Don't reply to the spam bot threads, thanks.

I'll delete them as soon as I see them.

I advise if you are in an environment that requires worksafe pictures only, or are underage (mentally or otherwise,) that you DO NOT look at the threads the spambots make.

Alright.
I found a phpbb mod for reCaptcha, which is a great confirmation code that I use on my other website which hasn't had a spam bot in almost a year now. So that should stop them from coming. We might get one or two every month or so but I don't expect any more than that so it should be sufficient.

For the wiki since spambots are now going over there, I made it so that you have to be registered to edit articles. Sorry anonymous contributors

That's excellent! Maybe the spambots will be kept away for once

I think I found where the spambots were coming from in the first place! Capristo, you left a link here on the old forums, did you realize that?

I did on purpose, so that people could find these new ones. But anyways it's been almost 3 days since we've had a new bot, that new confirmation code thingy is working its magic

Aren't you supposed to type it wwwDOTattnamDOTcom, that way the bots can't go directly to it? That's how I saw the link to the jconserv forums. Man, these days it seems like it's impossible to leave a link somewhere without getting bots.

If the bots can pass captcha verification, then (probably) they also can pass such simple defenses as typing DOT instead of .. Hopefully the new system will make sure that we don't get spambots, so now we can post links wherever we want.

As long as you don't say that you did so in a reply to the spam thread, I have no problems.

Makron: I'd like to see you try.

Somagu: Love the Hibiki avatar.

Bots are your friends. How would you get dick pills without their careful guidance?
