First, I think it would be best to get in touch with holybanana or hexii, who will be able to give us admin rights on IVAN Sourceforge. I don't know Finnish, but Hexii seems to have an active blog here... Even if he has no time for development, that should be just 5 minutes for him. (Probably better to create those Sourceforge accounts first, so he will know whom to give them.)

We need it for two things. First, to update the website to include our forum. And second, a version control system such as CVS is in practice essential for joint development. (If you don't know what a version control system is: when you do something new to IVAN, you issue a single command ("commit" ) and your change goes to the repository. If you do another single command ("update" ), your local copy is updated to include all the changes committed by everyone else.) We could create a new repository somewhere, but I think it would be much better to use the official IVAN CVS repository. This will make us official.

I hope they won't feel bad about passing official IVAN development to others.

Also we should choose: which ones of the unofficial modifications go to our initial version?

Ah, as to contacting the original DEVs, it's already been done. We're going to have to get holykiwi's permission through Kahvi on IRC. Feel free to talk to him there.

Uuf, I didn't know Hexii was writing a blog about politics...

EDIT: Aanyway! There seem to be a few of us who know something about C++ after all. This is great. A group of 10 people might be too big, so we may have to drop those who don't do anything at some point. We'll see how this starts to roll.

First, we need to get to know the code well. This will be achieved through making a bugfixed version of the CVS, with some minor additions (some balancing and scripting, Ighalli's god system if we get it). Nothing big. Then, when we get things familiarized, we'll start adding genuinely new stuff.

Those of you who see this post have said that you're intrested. Thus I'm suggesting that we'll try to get something out at 24.12. this year, as a christmas gift to the community. Now all you need to do is start giving your input!
