Remember IVAN-detectives? This one is a bit less-depth, but still may be fun.
We post stuff like screenshots or message history and asked stuff about it - "how can I get this?", "Where is this from?" etc.
I may have not explained that clear, but you'll understand if I start (easy, for starters) :
Ok - how can one get the message about advancing, without any "you hit (blablabla)"?

Man, I've had a ton of weird questions like that before, wish I had saved them. As for this one, I have no clue, but this thread is a good idea.

you can gain skill by blocking but it would say you block the attack

Yup, that's why it isn't it
. If no-one guesses, I'll post the answer by tommorow afternoon. My afternoon that is. A good rule, perhaps. But it's not mandatory.

I'm going to guess(wrongly) that it's because you were polymorphed, kicked some ass with a polearm, and then got polymorphed back, somehow causing a delayed reaction with your skill rising?

Nope, just threw a polearm at her while she was out of LoS.

In that case, the polearm you threw must've hit her, thus giving you skill with polearms.

New question:
How come I lately killed the enner beast with a wand of fireballs that has no charges left, and having no fancy armor, didn't hurt myself one bit? When someone guesses this, You will by the way all learn my cheap way to kill enny

Easy, drop it and slap an active mine on top, then wait for the enner to roll through and admire the explosion.

I dunno, mines aren't that common in UT. Throw it so it'll break? Wands are prone to breakage, even if it's made of valpurium (as I happen to know from trying a wizard-themed character in WM, who wielded valpurium wands. They still broke after a few hits.)
EDIT: Nevermind.

Observe my bad formula:
UT =/= Enner Beast
GC = Enner Beast
GC = Mines mines mines mines mines
Wand of Fireballs + Mine =
BOOM
BOOM + Enner Beast = Corpse of Enner Beast
Corpse of Enner Beast = Win

Yes but you would need levitation somehow. Al didn't specify that so I'm not sure.
I was also thinking of throwing or kicking it at him

I guess you could try activating a mine over a fireball and then kicking the mine with the fireball attacted to Enner.

Mines don't require levitation to activate without dying. Also, as pointed out the enner is in GC5, not the UT; you stand a way more than decent chance of finding dormant mines before the enner.

oh. But if you're not levitating, isn't there a chance of setting it off immediately after you activate it?

Sorry for the kinda late reply, but yeah, that's it. It felt really cool to discover it half-accidentally. Score, Chaostrom!

I would not have thought throwing mines would work.

He said wand. Mines do not break.

Hm. I see this does happen (but it looks to be somewhat unreliable, definitely a 'only do this if you really have no charges left' plan).

Very unreliable. I'm wondering with what kind of AStr he's throwing the wand with.

You've got to be silly! I had no more than 30 AStr, probably more like 15-20. Wands are lightweight!

I don't believe higher AStr would increase the odds of the wand breaking when thrown...? Don't trust me on this, this statement is coming directly out of my rectum.

Well, it could be that if the wand hit the beast, it stopped beneath on the floor beneath. But maybe then the scream would be enough powerful to break it? Well I asked my rectum and it told me it doesn't give a shit if there was a scream or no. We don't remember. It might've as well have broken by fuxxoring.
EDIT : I found a screenshot. 40AStr, lol. Sorry!
