Kahvi and Holykiwi are looking to get development going again. Hang tight, and I'll keep y'all posted.

Alright, Kahvi has seemingly disappeared, so Erno and I are organising to take over development. Anyone interested?

Arturion

A wild Arturion appears!

I would be willing to help out. I am, however, currently developing my own roguelike in the same vein as (and inspired by) IVAN, so I won't be able to dedicate too much time to it.

I'd love to see IVAN grow, though. It has a ton of potential, and I have hoped for quite a while now that development would continue in some form. I'll do anything I can to contribute, within my given limits.

Yes, this is my first post; Hi; I like IVAN and stuff.

Alveradok

Alveradok uses Yodawg ball

Well I'd like to report myself as One Of The Guys That Always Are Willing To Help And Will Do Just Anything Other Than Coding.

So if we need pixelart, sound or hell, in-game music, I'll gladly contribute.

I guess I could help. I can make graphics for it and provide a range of sound effects too. I have a decent knowledge of scripting too, but not so much with the source code. That stuff hurts my head.
Jeez this feels like a job interview.

As there is no pay, everyone will find their place. What we need most are the people familiar with the code, so those who know anything about the source, please come forward!

Arturion

Yeah, I've poked around in the source a bit but I'm far from being familiar with it. I will delve into it deeper though.

Anyone know a good C++ course in the internet, or do I "have" to go to the bookstore?
#10 Sep 26, 2009, 11:18 am Hide

Serefan

I don't know anything about C++, but I do know some small stuff about the code, if I'd look into it more, I'd probably understand most of it. But I wouldn't be able to write it myself. I think I have a C++ course next year, but I don't know for sure.

If this doesn't work out, since nobody knows C++, I wouldn't mind having some trusty companions for my project.

I don't think there are any C++ websites out there as good as the textbooks.
I recommend these books:

C++ How to Program by Deitel and Deitel
The C Programming Language by Kernighan and Ritchie

You can get older editions which are good enough, for pretty cheap

I've put up a IVAN development sub-forum. Those intrested, please contact me. People with coding skillz needed. (Yes, you can use the sub-forum now)

Z

This sub-forum is only visible to those allowed? I am not willing to do much work other than talking, but I think I might be helpful anyway.
#15 Sep 29, 2009, 10:39 am Hide

Serefan

Where can this subforum be found?
#16 Sep 29, 2009, 2:43 pm Hide

Somagu

I see it under programming but I'm not aware if it's because I'm a mod or not
#17 Sep 29, 2009, 3:00 pm Hide

Serefan

Can't find it there.

www.attnam.com/viewforum.php?f=19
Last I checked anyway. Besides, I don't have permission to access it.

capristo

Erno has it set to Mods only right now, I have to do some coding to let you guys access it
#20 Sep 30, 2009, 12:48 am Hide

Ernomouse

Yes, it's set for mods only until capristo adds the seer priviledges. Can be found under programming. I asked Capristo to make it visible to 4zb4, Arturion, Chaostrom and Alveradok. And add Z to that list too. Who else wants sum?

Eagle V

I would like to see what you guys are doing... However, I have no applicable skils beyond using paint and a basic grasp of programming. When school is over, I'll try reading some of the IVAN code.
#22 Sep 30, 2009, 12:58 am Hide

Ernomouse

We'll keep the rest of you posted about what's going on. The sub-forum is for the people who are actually willing to do something for the project. You one of those?
#23 Sep 30, 2009, 2:15 am Hide

Serefan

Well, I'm interested, ofcourse. I am willing to do anything, I don't have any knowledge of C++ in particular, but I am able to read the code and know what it does, and I have a decent knowledge of programming in general, so I can probably give general guidelines and hints.

I can do some source code stuff. I've been digging through it a few times. Don't expect me to go and create some new fangled contraption from scratch though.
