Hi again.
I have resumed work on AtomicIVAN, and am wanting to add a certain new character to New Attnam.
I always get an error message when trying to run IVAN after putting him in...
I had a look at the greatboard forums for a solution, but couldn't find one. So i got the source stuff just incase.
Help?

Yes, adding new creatures wont work with scripting alone. You need to edit the source. Modifying old ones, however, does work.

Thing is, I want a totally new character, and replacing an existing char just wont work.
Sorta like the mystery man in LIVAN, he didnt replace anyone.
So how do you do it with editing the source?

Well, your best bet is the script course, lower down in this section. Or to ask Z.

Alright you guys asked for it.
I'm going to have to replace Huang Ming Pong for someone else now. I hope you're all happy.
Unless Lampshade lets me shred apart LIVAN

You could take a look, you know. I don't think there's anything against looking.

Looking through LIVAN's source code hurts my brain

I started working on the modification to the source once to add an unique char, and depending of what you want, it could be quite hard. I searched and reused Huang Ming Pong code to achieve this. When you want to add new things, try to search first for something similar, it could help greatly !
I'm sorry I can't help you more, I stopped working on my mod (but he's not dead !) for a while and can't remember what you need to modify.

My plan of learning the ins and outs of IVAN was to do a lot of source diving. This will help you understand a lot of stuff to get you going but it won't help you learn to program it. LIVAN is alllllllll copy-and-paste work
