Comrade

How do you think they afford their home?
BTW
Does anyone know how to beat a GC4 (the one with all of the mines in) that is mushroom infected, i mean COMPLETLY mushroom infected that has about 4-8 good bone files?

Alveradok

BTW How about a ring of polymorph control, for starters? Some good pets can help, too.

I don't think you'll ever be able to clear the level of magic mushrooms. The best you can do is plow through, get your goodies, and leave. Polycontrol will obviously help.. telecontrol would help too. Then you can just teleport to one corpse, get your items, teleport to the next, etc.

Comrade

I've also tried that, i guess i could delete the bones files, but i love them, it makes me feel that the IVAN version that I'm using has history to it. That's probably my best bet... Anymore ideas out there?

Wands of striking to tear through them all?

Resurrect the Enner and let him loose?

Your best bet is Turox.

It's times like these that you wish there was a "Wand of Species Frag".
...that's a good idea for AtomicIVAN

4zb4, "genocide" in NetHack terminology

Would be cool if you gave a screenshot, Comrade. I can sort of imagine that, but a depiction of reality would be a cool addition. Anyhow, in addition to all those suggestions, a prayer to Silva could get rid of a few and stop the reproduction. Not sure what version are you playing because it never happened to me.

It's quite common on the minefield level, actually!

I lost 2 elite guards down there! They couldn't handle some of the crits (I suppose the mistresses did it)

Comrade

I tried many times trying to find the bone files on that level, i cant find one, if i do i'll post it on here. Imagine a 5 square radius and fill that up with 5-10 mushrooms and maybe a poly-morphed monster. Now put that EVERYWHERE on the map... Although not a bad idea with the turox, just find one and maybe mirror/clone it and have a few fire resistant rings and go crazy.

EDIT

I just got this idea! I could go into wizard mode and completly buff my character and clear that level...

If you use WM you will lose that bones.

If you want to find which bones file it is, next time you lose a character there, check your bones folder and check the dates.

If it's on the minefield level, I believe it won't save once the minefield itself has been disturbed. Don't quote me on this; I only know this sort of thing to be true for Jenny and the hidden boxes, and Merka's shop.

Comrade

I could care less about the bone files in that level, i just want to clear that level easy...

Lordmushroom

Wouldn't that be pointless? Why ask for tips if you're just going to cheat through the game?
#16 Sep 18, 2009, 9:34 am Hide

chaostrom

Then there is no hope for you Comrade. It's difficult to clear it even with WM. Simply jacking up your stats won't do.
#17 Sep 18, 2009, 12:21 pm Hide

Comrade

No?
#18 Sep 18, 2009, 9:34 pm Hide

chaostrom

No. MMs are notoriously prolific, and their gas can confer any status effect, including teleportitis, polymorphitis and invisibility. That combined with the large size of GC means by the time you've gone through the level, there's probably a bunch behind you. Not to mention that the presence of MM corpses are more likely to make them spawn. You want tele-control, a wand of polymorph and plenty of charging scrolls. Maybe association with Legifer, other attack wands, pets. Turox or thunder hammers if you can equip, if you choose to polymorph choose something fast and strong.

Tamed, betrayed, and mirrored hattifatteners?
#20 Nov 5, 2009, 2:15 am Hide

slob

you have to either eat them all or carry them to the surface and discard them. thats what i do and it works. walk through gas until you get polycontrol and then eat with impunity. you will probably find that you end up with some permamanent states like permahaste, permainfravision, perma-ESP, permapolycontrol, (or perma slow). it helps if you have some pet humanoids you can load up too. grab a shitload of mushrooms with you and your pets, drop them on the level above and repeat. you can destroy corpses with acid too but i have never tried that method.

capristo

So is slow the only bad permanent state? I'm sure we've been over this before...
#22 Nov 5, 2009, 7:07 am Hide

chaostrom

Magic mushrooms give every status, so you'll probably end up with polymorphitis and teleportitis too, but that's negated by control.
#23 Nov 7, 2009, 4:18 pm Hide

4zb4

Maybe you could also set a few hattifatteners on them and then take care of the corpses.
Does putting the corpses in chests stop them from multiplying? Or can't you put them chests in the first place?
#24 Nov 7, 2009, 9:20 pm Hide

slob

putting the corpses in chests does not help, they have to be off the level (or in your belly)
