Batman?

I forgot I was wielding Saal'Thuul when i went to buy banannas in New Attnam. now the spoily pants holder upper is lost.

I've cleared all of UT 1-4 and GC 1-4. No gloves of dex , no special helmets, no wand of cloning. shop in Attnam had a wand of mirroring (1 shot, natch). and I found a wand of poly.

Im trying to decide what to do. I have 2 ?ofCharging and a wand of poly. do i use 1 of the ? and keep polypiling for better items? I havent checked out the minefield yet. I have a ring of poly and poly control. perhaps I should poly into something flying and see if there is anything decent in there?

If i get killed while poly'd do i die or just revert back to my original form?

I think forgetting you're invisible and accidentally stealing is grounds for reloading an autosave...

I dunno, there is the warning message asking if you're sure you want to commit thievery. But can't you still get the belt by killing off Decos and his goons? After the uprising you can normally still wrestle Huang, and he gives the belt instead of Decos. If banana growers and Huang are not hostile, you're fine as long as you're strong enough to kill all the foreigners (everyone with white skin.)

Yes but I usually instinctively press 'y' because I think it's asking "Do you want to buy this?" or whatever. It's not until everybody takes a step towards me the next turn that I realize it was asking "Are you sure you want to steal?"

If we allow save scumming for accidentally stealing, what next? Accidentally forgetting to not step on a mine? It'll be anarchy I tell ya!

Nope once you make decos hostile the wrestler wont fight you. just checked it.

I just checked in wizard mode, you can still challenge him. I know WM isn't exactly proof but I'm certain I've done it in normal games. Maybe you accidentally hit a palm leaf girl or some other civillian native, or if you were holding Saal'thul he just ignored you when you tried to challenge him?
I've done this before by getting polymorphed into a strong golem very early, killing Decos quick before I change back, and then going for the belt after UT training.
Edit- Try it yourself, eat Kenny and a few bananas right at start, and kick a tourist in the face. Get bloated and immediately challenge Huang before Decos finds you. Even if the grower encourager follows you into the house, Huang will let you challenge him to a private match and hide you for a while. This is presumably because he is sympathetic to your antiattnamese cause, though hell still beat you up down there.

I agree with this, by the way, for as long as a break I've been taking from roguelikes.

So I suppose Decos is what triggers whether or not Huang will let you challenge him in a hostile New Attnam?
I do remember clearing out the guards and Decos and Huang mentioning something about not letting me challenge him because he no longer gets fed by the imperialists.

Hmm, that might sound vaguely familiar...
I'm sure I've done it though... guess I'll to have to try to do it again to see.

I found a line I remember in the script:
Quote
"@Dd looks almost panicked. \"Hey, why aren't people bringing me bananas anymore! I'm hungry! Help! Don't let me starve!\"",
But I am pretty sure what he said when I went to challenge him was something along the lines of "It's your fault I'm starving! No way would I let you challenge me now."

I am somewhat sure he didn't let me fight him, but I'd have to boot up the game again to check.

EDIT:

Ok I've found exactly what triggers it. Huang will let you challenge him so long as at least one imperialist is still alive. As soon as you kill all the imperialists, he gives you this line.
I had one guard left running around with no arms when I went to test this, and he let me challenge him. I declined then killed off that guard, resulting in this line from him when I tried to challenge him again.

So yes, you can kill almost all the imperialists and still get the belt of levitation. Just be sure to leave one limping around somewhere. The only difference between this and doing it without killing Decos is that you don't get the banana endorsement shirt and the relevant lines of dialogue after winning the match. Huang just says "here's a little something from me", gives you the belt and teaches you some "nasty fighting techniques".

Huh, my mistake then... Was just about to test it in a normal game, glad I checked cause I would hate to have lost the belt just to find out. Thanks 4zba. I didn't realize the game made a distinction between "during revolution" and "post revolution," but that makes sense since the growers are still carrying around bananas and not idly talking about how they can be professors and whatnot again.

What a complicated set of conditions set by the devs. No wonder one of them has entered politics.

...Now there, that is one genuinely scary thought. The minds who made IVAN into what it is now, making decisions for the country I live in.
