Valpurus the Great Frog is the King of Gods, the highest of them all and a mortal enemy of Mortifer. His alignment is L++ (extremely lawful). His archangel is called Inlux.

The Wise know that the world is really a square pancake which Valpurus carries on His back. This is why the Cathedral and the whole city of Attnam are dedicated to His worship.

Praying

Note that Valpurus is a busy god and does not respond well to ordinary mortals bothering Him with their prayers. You should only pray to Valpurus after becoming His champion. Offer sacrifices to Him until He declares you His champion, then it is safe to pray. Repeat this process after each prayer, as Valpurus is also a fickle god and his favour does not last.

Good Effects

When pleased, Valpurus will do one of the following for you:

You hear booming voice: "DEFEAT MORTIFER WITH THIS, MY PALADIN!" A sword glittering with holy might appears from nothing.
You hear booming voice: "THIS WILL PROTECT THEE FROM MORTIFER, MY PALADIN!" A shield glittering with holy might appears from nothing.

As all gods, Valpurus also has a small chance of either summoning a friendly angel as a pet for you, or giving you a random item attached to Him (though the only non-artifact item attached to Valpurus is the Holy Handgrenade of Antioch). Note that no matter how high is your favour with Valpurus, he will not summon his archangel Inlux, since she is in the service of the Cathedral.

Bad Effects

When angry, Valpurus smites you with a small hammer, doing direct damage to your head.

As all gods, Valpurus can also summon a hostile angel when extremely angry.

Altars

There is a guaranteed altar of Valpurus in the Cathedral of Attnam. It is attended by a Priest who will cure diseases, re-attach or summon new limbs and offer other services, for a price.

Other altars of Valpurus can be found randomly in the dungeons.

Artifacts

Several artifacts are attached to Valpurus. Offering these items to Valpurus at his altar will grant you a greater bonus towards your favour with Him:

Valpurium and golden eagle feather materials are also attached to Valpurus and items made of them will grant increased favour.
